Mostly about Fantasy genre: Special emphasis on Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Deed of Paksennarion. Music, poetry and random ramblings. Actually, anything is up for grabs. Probably not politics, but everything else is fair game. Please ignore al

While I'm supposed to be writing my paper, I've also been watching movies. It isn't exactly conducive to writing to watch movies, but I do it anyway. I usually watch movies that I've seen multiple times so that I don't really have to pay attention to know what's going on. But I digress from the point.

I'm watching, appropriately enough, Easter Parade with Judy Garland and Fred Astaire. I really adore this movie. It has one of my favorite lines of all time in it. Judy had been singing "It only happens when I dance with You" and Astaire looks at her and says, "Why didn't you tell me I was in love with you?" That line gets me every time!

I feel a little silly saying it, but it's true: I want to be in love in a musical. There's something about the love in a musical that seems so happy, joyful and pure. I get butterflies in my stomach and my heart skips a beat just watching them. The same happens to me in some books as well. For example, the book Sabriel by Garth Nix has a great scene in it. A battle is about to begin, and the odds aren't good. (are they ever?) and the male lead looks at the female lead and realizes that he loves her. Well, Nix writes it better than I could, so here you go:

"I used to think like that at school," Sabriel answered. "Dreaming about the Old Kindom. Proper Charter Magic. Dead to bind. Princes to be --"
"Rescued?"
"Married," replied Sabriel absently.
Touchstone didn't speak. Everything seemed to sharpen in focus for him, centering on Sabriel, her black hair gleaming like a raven's wing in the afternoon sun. I love her, he thought. But if I say the wrong thing now, I may never... (...) suddenly conscious that eh probably only had five seconds to be alone with Sabriel, to say something, to say anything. Perhaps the last five seconds they would ever have together... I am not afraid, he said to himself.

"I love you," he whispered. "I hope you don't mind."
Sabriel looked back at him and smiled, almost despite herself. (...) "I don't mind," she whispered back, leaning towards him. She frowned, "I think... I think I might love you too,"

(I edited out a little bit in the (...) areas)

Now, I realize this might not get other people like it gets me since, 1. you don't know the rest of the story and 2. I am a geek, but every time I read it, my heart jumps a little.

So, I'm a hopeless romantic, and I don't care. I just hope I can some day find a love like that.
