Mostly about Fantasy genre: Special emphasis on Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Deed of Paksennarion. Music, poetry and random ramblings. Actually, anything is up for grabs. Probably not politics, but everything else is fair game. Please ignore al
Since I got the email telling me I was accepted into UofA, I've been setting about getting things ready for the move up there. One of my best friends is already living up there, and told me there was an open apartment in her complex. The complex is within walking distance of the school and downtown. It's really nice because I wouldn't have to use my car much at all! This is a good thing since gas is so expensive.

I called the building manager to ask about the apartment. He said, since I was a friend of a tenant, that he would hold the apartment for me, but only if I could take it May 1. That's understandable and I was expecting it.

My problems are these: I don't have a job yet in Fayetteville, and my job here won't pay me until May 15. My parents would have to pay the first payment, and I don't want to ask them to do that. Either that, or I could take out my loans now, and use that to pay the first month's rent. I don't want to take out the loans now because I don't know if I have an assistantship or not, and I don't know how much money I'm going to need.

I'd really like to move up there ASAP because I have a much better chance of finding a job there than in my parent's town. Their town is tiny and has very few jobs. Fayetteville is much larger and I have a better shot at finding employment. It would also be nice to be up there, and get to know my way around before classes start. Plus, there's a really cool Harry Potter party going on up there for the release, and I'd love to be there for that. (You knew there had to be a dork factor, right?)

Argh. I hate growing up.

Decisions, decisions!

Ask your parents. It will only be a short term loan as it is. And tide you over until you know what is going on with a job and the Assistantship.

And good luck!

I agree with Doc! And, plus the reasons you cited as to why it would be good for you to be there now! Go get it girl!

I called my mom. Seems as though they were expecting to pay my first month's rent since they know my current pay schedule. Mom was impressed that I had already taken care of so much, and had gotten all the information she was going to tell me to get.

Wow, I might actually BE growing up!
