Heh, I'm not usually the "activity guy"...but I suppose you can always have some kind of BBQ or something...or you can always go somewhere and shoot the shit...that's what I like to do. When I'm hanging out with a certain group of friends we always seem to end up at Wendy's and cause quite the ruckus.(What can I say, I'm hilarious ) Then again you can have one of those standard college parties...but hide the kegs.

how bout a murder mystery dinner? many of the places that do them would probably even give ya a group rate if you were large enough of a group.

How about a scavenger hunt dinner? Make the items they are searching for things that will remind them of your time together, maybe even give pictures out to various people involved in the scavenger hunt, that kind of thing. That way it would give you guys time to reminisce and have fun at the same time.

Verdict is... I have loser friends. They didn't want to DO anything. They came over, ate my cupcakes, some people stayed to watch "The Holiday", but nobody stayed until the end. I had monopoly and LotR Trivial Pursuit, but we didn't play them. (Of course, no one will play LotR TP with me)

I really loved the suggestions, and if I ever get cooler friends, I will definitely use some of them. Thank you all so much for your help. I wish I had a better story to tell you.

My wife just rented that movie over the weekend, and made me watch it.......twice!!!!!

You poor, poor thing. I liked the Jack Black / Kate Winslet story line... especially how they both escaped their bad relationship patterns... and the old guy was precious. I just don't like Cameron Diaz or Jude Law -- and I didn't care for their story line either.

I guess it wasn't a "bad" movie, but it's not one I'll watch again any time soon.

i hope ya don't take offense to this, but it sounds like the change in scenery will at least benefit ya in the sense that you might find some less fairweather type friends. maybe it was just the wording, but it sounds like you gave a sh*t and they didn't...just wanted some free snacks.

i've been in that position before, and it never feels good to learn that you care a lot more than those around ya.

my condolences...but if ya ever get the chance to do a murder mystery type thing,,they are fun. and a good way that everyone can be entertained (i.e.- not feel forced to carry the conversation, because there is a show and stuff to "observe" thru the evening) and good interaction happens naturally, when everytone gets into the sleuthing and comparing theories and whatnot. the dinners are usually "flat rate" so all the confusion of splitting bills based on what was ordered is eliminated. or if you are footin the bill, no resentment about "being taken advantage of" by someone who orders all the expensive stuff.

the best one we ever did was in vegas. but we've done good ones locally too. i believe the place in LV was called "the egg and i" or something like that. next, we want to do a murder mystery weekend" where you spend 2 or 3 days in a remote B&B and are emersed in the story all day / night.

I apologize. At least I recognized Dustin Hoffman in the video store. One of the girls who hadn't been playing close attention asked, "Who is that guy? Why is the camera on him?"

I looked at her for a long time, trying to figure out if she was kidding or not. She wasn't.



More like they're really busy, lazy and aren't very fun. All of my really good friends already graduated and live elsewhere. I really should have just gone to the bar and said screw the rest of them.
