yeah... this is not about books
I recently discovered something about my housing staff. Apparently, we're all a bunch of alcoholics who have been drinking in our rooms all year long. Thing is, we all thought we were the only ones. So, last night, we gathered together to celebrate the end of the year by drinking in somebody's room. We knew we could drink together, because we found out on Friday, that we had all gotten drunk secretly on Thursday.
Thing is, we still technically work for housing, and we are still (technically) not supposed to drink in our rooms. So, rather than be stupid and talk about "passing me another drink" or "hand me a beer" we made up code names. With three literature majors in the bunch, it didn't take long to come up with code names.
We are reading books again tonight. I prefer my fairy tales (mixed drinks) especially Rumpelstiltskin (Rum). We also have plenty of Neoclassics (beer) and some old Greek legends (wine). For those that prefer heavier reading, we have some Voltaire (vodka) or perhaps some Irish poetry (Irish cream). One of the girls prefers romance novels (wine coolers) but we don't hold that against her. Tonight, we had to pick up the large print (larger bottle) of a few books, because reading so much blurs our vision. A couple of group have gone to the library (liquor store) to pick up some more books. Brian called and asked what I wanted to read, and I told him that Rachel knows which book (beverage) by which publisher (brand) that I like.
Yes, I realize that we are all dorks. But, I think we're having even more fun speaking in code than we are actually drinking the stuff.
Well, I'm off to the "book" club meeting now.
